There are so many news articles like this that we never end up seeing the follow-up to. I hope we get to find out what's up with this one.

Just how is it we expect the world to show us respect and tolerance if we go around doing stuff like this..?

Fine and dandy that we apologized for it...but that doesn't mean a thing. It should not have happened in the first place.

So...
It's a small world when you're glancing at the main page of Wikipedia and happen to see one of the featured articles is about one of your close high school friends...
I haven't spoken to Dan Smith in quite a while, in fact, the last e-mail I have from him was apparently just before his kidnapping episode. I knew something had happened to him when he never replied. A year or two passed, and he appeared again on Facebook, although he doesn't post there, and he probably doesn't actually log in on a regular basis.
He's an absolutely amazing person. Always has been. In high school, he had a full head of luxurious, long dark hair. Thus began my obsession with long-haired guys, I think.
I will have to drop him a line to congratulate him on his fame.

It's so beautiful outside, I thought I would do a bit of garden reclamation. That involved moving two giant flower pots full of really wet soil. Silly me. I forgot about last fall's back injury. It has not forgotten about me.

*Update to the previous post*
The Sony Minisystem in Tim's room was mine when I went to college. It had great sound, a 5 disc changer, dual tape deck, radio, the usual thing for an early 90's machine. I liked it better than a couple of the newer ones that went through my home. At some point a couple of years ago, the CD changer stopped working regularly. It wouldn't read some discs, but it would read others...but not in any order at all. In fact, it would read the same disc one day and not the next, then it would read it again a couple of days later. Didn't seem to matter which slot was being used. Possessed, I would have to guess. Last year, it stopped reading discs altogether. *sigh* Tim and I hooked up a Technics 5 disc changer to the video input. The sound quality isn't as good, but it worked. Now, that disc changer is doing the exact same thing! Yes, I have cleaned them properly.
There are 5 discs in the machine: Within Temptation - Mother Earth, Within Temptation - The Silent Force, Within Temptation - The Heart of Everything (burned copy), The Legend Soundtrack and Depeche Mode - Playing the Angel.
The Technics changer only recognizes the burned disc right now. The other four originals don't exist.
*sigh*
I have an Aiwa surround minisystem in my bedroom with a 3 disc changer that I hardly ever use... The sound is great, but the changer itself is loud when it cycles through. If there were room in Tim's room, I would move it in there and hook it up to the TV like it's made for, but that would take some serious rearranging.
I guess I can't have it all today. I did manage to open a bottle of soda without blowing it up, so I guess that counts for something!

My CD's arrived yesterday. Yay!
I've only listened to Mother Earth so far. I must admit, that is a good album. Miss Heather will probably be sitting at the end of my driveway in the bushes waiting to tackle me to get an ear on it.
Of course, my computer is having issues, so I can't listen to anything right at the moment. When the burner that came in my machine died, Tim installed the one from my old machine. Now, it is telling me that the hardware is not compatible with my operating system. Figures. No, I don't want to reboot right now. I'm not trying to burn anything... I just want to listen! Guess I will have to turn on the old stereo in Tim's room.
*sigh*
Guess not. I can't get either of the CD changers to recognize any discs. I hate that.
I want my music!!!

So... I was a bad kitty and ordered CD's online: Within Temptation Mother Earth / The Silent Force import combo.
I know a couple of folks who will be wanting to borrow that one...
I got the super-saving shipping, so it will be a bit before they get here. I can wait. Really.
